Jennifer Moore, Ph.D. Dr. Jennifer Moore received her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Auburn University in 2012. She completed an APA-accredited internship at the counseling center of The University of Memphis. Currently, she is a staff psychologist in the counseling center at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia. Her current duties include assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide array of psychological disorders. Additionally, she creates and implements outreach presentations for the campus community at large in her role as the Alcohol and Drug Education Coordinator. Her history of service includes working at a pediatric clinic, a nursing home, a community mental health facility, and as a crisis counselor for those impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005 and 2006.
Dr. Moore's interests include grief, trauma, racial identity issues, and suicide prevention. She has presented on a range of topics, including the impact of hate speech towards LGBT youth, concepts of restorative justice, perceptions of varying levels of sexual consent, and methods of increasing civility and understanding among people, especially for multicultural interactions. Furthermore, she views her work in preventing burn-out for those in the helping fields an important endeavor. She considers increased self-acceptance and feelings of self-efficacy as prominent goals in her work with others.
